Representative Dan Newhouse, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 4th district, has recently shared several statements on social media regarding significant political and personal matters. Newhouse, who has been serving in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Doc Hastings, used his platform to address key issues and express condolences.
On May 20, 2025, Rep. Newhouse announced his participation with colleagues from the Main Street Caucus in highlighting reforms included in a reconciliation package. He emphasized the importance of these reforms as part of his role with the House Agriculture Committee GOP, particularly those aimed at restoring integrity to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The following day, May 21, 2025, Rep. Newhouse expressed his sorrow over the passing of Congressman Gerald Connolly. He described Connolly as “a kind man and a model public servant,” extending wishes for peace to those close to him during this difficult time.
On May 22, 2025, Rep. Newhouse offered condolences to the families of two Israeli Embassy staffers who were killed in Washington D.C. that night. He condemned political violence and expressed hope for swift justice in response to this tragic event.
Dan Newhouse was born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1955 and currently resides there. He graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
