U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse, who serves Washington’s 4th district, recently shared updates on agricultural priorities and infrastructure improvements in his region through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

On August 20, 2025, Newhouse posted about a listening session held at WSU Prosser alongside Congressman Glenn Thompson. He stated, “.@CongressmanGT and I heard directly from producers at a listening session at WSU Prosser and had an opportunity to share the many Farm Bill priorities we secured in H.R. 1, like my doubling of funding for our foreign market access programs!”.

In another post on the same day, Newhouse acknowledged the participation of state agricultural leaders: “We were grateful to have Derek Sandison, Director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture, and Jon Wyss, Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency for Washington join us to hear from local farmers.”

The following day, August 21, Newhouse highlighted his visit to Yakima Airport: “Great visit today with the Yakima Airport where I was able to see the latest improvements to the terminal building. I’ve worked closely with the airport to secure funding for this project and make sure they have the tools needed to better serve our region. Keep up the great work!”

Dan Newhouse has represented Washington’s 4th district in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Doc Hastings. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1955, Newhouse continues to reside there and is an alumnus of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1977.
