On March 4, 2025, Rep. Newhouse expressed pride in having Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney join him for the President’s address. He described her as a “dear friend” and highlighted their collaboration on addressing challenges in Central Washington.

Following the President’s address to Congress, on March 5, 2025, Rep. Newhouse invited followers to listen to his reaction after attending what he noted was the first address by the 47th President back at the Capitol.

Later that day, Rep. Newhouse introduced a resolution aimed at censuring a colleague from Texas. He criticized this member’s behavior during President Trump’s Joint Address for showing “sheer disregard for decorum” and failing to follow the Speaker’s direction.
