Newhouse’s posts reflect his engagement with agricultural leadership appointments, budget hearings concerning homeland security, and national appreciation for educators.
On May 6, 2025, Rep. Dan Newhouse congratulated Jon Wyss on his new role as State Director of the Farm Service Agency in Washington state. He expressed optimism about Wyss’s appointment by stating “Congratulations to my good friend Jon Wyss on his appointment as State Director of the Farm Service Agency in Washington state. Our farmers are lucky to have him charting the course at FSA!”
Later that day, Newhouse reported his participation in a budget hearing held by the House Appropriations Committee for the Department of Homeland Security. He noted his inquiry into sanctuary jurisdictions during this session by posting “Today, at the @HouseAppropsGOP Budget Hearing for the Department of Homeland Security, I questioned @Sec_Noem on sanctuary jurisdictions and their impact on DHS’ mission to protect our communities.”

Dan Newhouse was born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1955 and graduated from Washington State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
