Rep. Dan Newhouse, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 4th district since 2015, recently shared a series of tweets covering various topics from Presidents’ Day celebrations to concerns about federal guidelines and discussions with local agricultural groups.

On February 17, 2025, Rep. Newhouse extended his greetings for Presidents’ Day, stating: “Happy Presidents’ Day!”

The following day, on February 18, 2025, he expressed his apprehensions regarding research influencing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. He stated: “I have deep concerns that the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking is forcing biased research into the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans that implies alcohol consumption is not safe for adults. @RepThompson and I have sent a letter to HHS…”

On February 19, 2025, Rep. Newhouse reported engaging with regional agricultural associations about labor issues and developments within the USDA under the new administration. He noted: “It was great catching up with the Washington State Tree Fruit Association and Northwest Horticulture to talk labor challenges and developments at USDA in the new administration.”
