City of Yakima issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

Due to ongoing federal requirements, Yakima Transit employees and passengers will need to continue wearing masks/face coverings while on board the bus and utilizing Dial-A-Ride services.

The mask requirement related to public transportation is in place through April 18th, 2022 per a federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announcement yesterday, Thursday. The federal mask requirement may be extended beyond April 18th.

“While the Washington state mask mandate for most public indoor settings ends this Saturday, the federal TSA order takes precedent,” said Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey.

The TSA mask requirement also applies to passengers and personnel at the Yakima Airport terminal and on flights.
