Today, Representative Dan Newhouse (WA-04) announced the passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. In his statement, Rep. Newhouse emphasized the importance of modernizing infrastructure in Central Washington.

“Across Central Washington, there is a need to modernize, upgrade, and expand various infrastructure projects. I am proud to have secured over $23 million that will go directly to the Wenatchi Landing project, the Port of Quincy rail expansion, and recovery housing in Benton County. These projects will boost economic development, improve public safety, and allow local entities to provide quality services to those who rely on them. I look forward to working with Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, House leadership, and our Senators to get this funding signed into law,” said Rep. Newhouse.

The appropriations bill has a total discretionary allocation of $89.910 billion which is 4.7% below last year’s level. It focuses on air traffic control infrastructure and transportation safety while maintaining housing assistance for vulnerable populations.

Rep. Newhouse secured funding for several projects in Washington’s Fourth District:

1. **Wenatchi Landing Interchange Improvement Project**: $10 million for improving transportation safety in Douglas County.
2. **Port of Quincy Rail Infrastructure Expansion Project**: $2.5 million for expanding rail infrastructure to support freight mobility.
3. **Port of Warden Truck Access/Bypass Road Project**: $2.5 million for constructing a truck access road connecting State Route 170.
4. **Three Rivers Recovery Housing Project**: $3 million for converting part of an old hospital into transitional housing.
5. **Village of Hope**: $4.265 million for renovating warehouse units serving homeless individuals.
6. **Port of Moses Lake Infrastructure Development Project**: $600,000 for constructing access roads around Port ramp access.
7. **Reconstruction of US 97 Phase 2**: $948,000 for pedestrian safety improvements in Tonasket.
