Rep. Dan Newhouse, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 4th district since 2015, recently shared his views and updates on legislative activities through a series of tweets. Newhouse succeeded Doc Hastings in 2015 and previously served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009.

On July 3, 2025, Rep. Newhouse expressed his support for H.R. 1 amidst what he described as “performative delay tactics” by House Democrats. He highlighted several reasons for his affirmative stance: “Avoids largest tax increase in U.S. history,” “$150B for border security,” “Critical support for farmers and ranchers,” “Powers our nuclear future,” and “$50B for our” tweeted Newhouse.

Later that day, Rep. Newhouse announced the passage of H.R. 1 by the House, emphasizing its role in preventing a significant tax hike: “The House just PASSED H.R. 1 to prevent the largest tax hike in American history.” He directed readers to a link for his full statement.

On July 4, Rep. Newhouse conveyed celebratory wishes on Independence Day with a simple message: “Happy Independence Day!”

Dan Newhouse was born in Sunnyside, Washington, in 1955 and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
