Rep. Dan Newhouse, who represents Washington’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on local agriculture and environmental topics through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On August 18, 2025, Newhouse commented on salmon populations in the region, stating, “Positive Chinook numbers here at the end of the Spring/Summer run. This is another good example showing how dams and salmon can and do coexist.”
The following day, August 19, he highlighted agricultural productivity in recognition of a national observance: “In recognition of National Potato Day, did you know Grant County produces more potatoes per acre than any other county in the United States? Our producers work hard to deliver high quality products enjoyed across the country and around the world.”
On August 20, Newhouse welcomed a congressional colleague to his district: “Glad to have @HouseAgGOP Chairman @CongressmanGT in WA-04 today. We just finished up a visit with DeRuyter Dairy and got a look inside their operation.”
Dan Newhouse has represented Washington’s 4th District since 2015 after succeeding Doc Hastings. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1955, Newhouse continues to reside there and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
