Rep. Dan Newhouse, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 4th district, has recently shared his views on significant legislative and international matters through a series of tweets. These posts reflect his positions on tax legislation, national security concerns related to TikTok, and the geopolitical situation involving Iran.

On June 19, 2025, Rep. Newhouse discussed H.R. 1 in a tweet stating that it “prevents the largest tax increase on Americans in history while reining in wasteful spending.” He emphasized that this bill cuts taxes for middle-class families, imposes no taxes on tips and overtime, and ensures long-term tax relief for small businesses.

Later that day, Newhouse addressed national security issues concerning TikTok by tweeting that “The law is clear – TikTok can only be used in the U.S. if ByteDance divests its foreign ownership.” He expressed concern over the Chinese Communist Party’s use of TikTok to access Americans’ personal data, highlighting it as a national security issue.

On June 22, 2025, he commented on international relations with Iran by asserting that “The decisive actions taken by the United States come as Iran refused to end development of their nuclear program.” Newhouse expressed solidarity with Israel in efforts to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Dan Newhouse has been a member of Congress since replacing Doc Hastings in 2015. Before his congressional service, he was part of the Washington House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1955 and holding a degree from Washington State University since 1977, he continues to reside in Sunnyside.
