From the President: Update on COVID-19 Protocols

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing with an update on our COVID-19 protocols in light of a new directive from Governor Inslee (link is external). In  the official communication dated August 5, the governor

rescinded the  requirement for all state employees to be up-to-date with their  vaccination status, which includes receiving boosters. Rather, the state  is providing incentives for

employees at the executive level and in  small cabinet agencies to receive boosters. This does not include public  institutions of higher education.

As you know, CWU is compliant with the governor’s current requirement  for all employees and students to be vaccinated with all doses of the  primary vaccine, while allowing

exemptions for online-only students, as  well as medical and religious reasons. While boosters are not required  at this time, they are strongly recommended by both the Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College Health Association (link is external).

Over the next two months, we will be holding two vaccination clinics  on the Ellensburg campus for initial vaccination or boosters: September 23 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and October 21

(11  a.m. to 3 p.m.). Both clinics will be held in SURC 137 A/B. We continue  to strongly encourage all employees and students to be fully vaccinated  (if they are not already) and to

receive boosters, as allowed by the  CDC.

If you have thoughts or feedback, please let me know.

Thank you again for the great work you did together last year. We  will manage our way through this next hurdle and have another great year  in 2022-2023.

Sincerely,

A. James Wohlpart

President
