Tree Removal to Impact Traffic on 16th Avenue

A section of 16th Avenue will be reduced to one lane next Monday, September 12th, for a tree removal project at Milroy Park.

Northbound traffic on 16th Avenue will be one lane between Browne Avenue and Lincoln Avenue during scheduled work hours of 6:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday. The sidewalk along that

section of 16th Avenue will be closed during project work hours.

“The trees are at the end of their lifecycle and have become a potential hazard to Milroy Park users as well as those traveling along 16th Avenue,” said Parks & Recreation Manager

Ken Wilkinson.

Because of heavy traffic volume, drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
