It has been nearly a year since the October 7th attacks by Hamas, which resulted in over 1,000 civilian deaths. These coordinated attacks were among the deadliest events for Jewish people since the Holocaust. In response, Israel has engaged in efforts to defend itself against terrorist cells in the region.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched rockets into Israel and breached borders using explosives and other means. The Nova music festival was targeted, with many attendees killed. Survivors faced violence and were taken to Gaza's tunnels. This attack aligns with Hamas' charter calling for jihad against Israel.

Following these events, Israel declared war on Hamas and its allies. Israeli forces have worked to secure hostages and dismantle Hamas' capabilities while facing threats from Iranian-backed cells. Operations have included precision strikes eliminating key leaders like Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah.

Supporters of Israel in Congress have pushed legislation to aid in this conflict. "I co-sponsored the Israel Security Assistance Support Act," stated one supporter, noting its passage through the House of Representatives. Another act aims to impose sanctions on Iran for aggression against Israel.

Israel remains a symbol of democracy in the Middle East amidst ongoing threats from hostile entities.
