Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington has announced the commencement of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This annual event invites high school students from Washington's Fourth District to participate, with the winning artwork to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a great event that offers young artists the chance to show their creativity at the national level,” said Rep. Newhouse. “Throughout the years, I have witnessed remarkable talent of young artists from all over Central Washington, and I look forward to seeing what our local artists have in store this year.”
Eligible participants from Central Washington must submit their artworks by April 26, 2025, to one of Rep. Newhouse’s district offices. In addition to the honor of displaying their work in the Capitol, the winning artist will have their work featured on the Congressional Art Competition page and will be invited to a Congressional reception in Washington, D.C. Honorable mention recipients will have their pieces displayed in one of the district offices.
Artwork submissions are subject to specific rules, including size and weight restrictions, and should not violate U.S. copyright laws. The competition accepts various art forms, such as paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. All work must be original in concept and execution.
For additional information or questions, Robert Bugner can be contacted via email, or inquiries can be made at Rep. Newhouse’s district offices located in Richland and Yakima, or by phone in the North District: Okanogan and Douglas Counties.
