A total of $1.4 million in second-round grant funds for Yakima nonprofits has been announced by city officials, according to a press release from the City of Yakima.
The grant money is available through the federal COVID-19 relief program, the CARES Act. Yakima City Council officials set aside the funds to offer short-term relief and assistance to Yakima nonprofit corporations that have accrued costs as a result of the pandemic.
Eligible nonprofits must be located within the Yakima city limits and hold federal tax exempt status.
Grant applicants will be prioritized as follows:
First priority to nonprofits that hold contractual relationships with the City of Yakima; these organizations can receive up to $30,000.
Second priority is given to nonprofit corporations that have provided services to the city during the pandemic. Up to $10,000 can be granted.
Third priority will be given to nonprofits who did not offer services to the community during the COVID outbreak. These nonprofits may apply for up to $10,000.
