This week, Gov. Jay Inslee announced new, sweeping restrictions and precautions in an effort to stop the coronavirus pandemic from spreading rapidly and with impunity.
The new measures will take effect on November 16 and stay in effect until December 14, unless they are extended. These measures are made in response to the drastic rise that has been seen in coronavirus cases and deaths in the past few weeks.
Andre Fresco, Executive Director of Yakima Health District had this to say about the new restrictions: “Unfortunately, the disease activity has increased to a level that prompts additional safety measures to be taken across the state. In Yakima, we know these additional safety measures will have a deep impact to our local businesses. The best thing we can do to support our businesses and community members is to stop all unnecessary interactions with individuals outside of your household and come together, like we have before, to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”
Concern has been shown from various restaurants and businesses in the community that feel it will be far more difficult to survive in this economic environment, especially with the new restrictions in place.
